Final project

My project: Chicken, russian salad and brown rice.

I usually like to have this dish for lunch because it is healthy and easy to make it. I went to a local market where i only find fresh vegetables or fruit, and i have to go to another market to find chicken. The chicken that is selled there is organic, at least it is what they said but i really dont know i just trust the market and producers. In the picture below are some of the ingredients.

For the Chicken
- Flattened chicken fillets
-olive oil
-salt nad comin

Season the fillets on both sides with salt and comin, fry in a bit of olive oil until golden on both sides, then drain on paper towels to remove the excess oil. This is how the chicken looks.

Russian salad
- Beets
- carrots
- peas
- mayonnaise
- salt and comin

Boil the beets, carrots and peas for about 8 minutes, peel and cut them into cubes, then mix the boiled beets, carrots and peas with a bit of mayonnaise, salt and comin.

For mayonnaise
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons of lime juice
- 1 cup of olive oil
- salt and comin.

Put all the ingredients, except the oil, in a blender, blend in a medium speed and add the oil gradually until the mayonnaise gets thick.

This is how the dish looks like and i served with brown rice. I usually cook like this with a lot of vegetables and the cost is not so expensive as it is in a restaurant, in a restaurant this dish cost around 15 dollars for one person, but i spent 10 dollars to cook it at home, for two persons.

Playtime is over catw practice

      Many people like that their children interact playing with other kids bacause it is the way their children can relax from many shores at schoool or at home. According to the article playing time is over, many schools have eliminated recess in favor of more time for classes, and one consequence of these changes is the disappearance of activities like singing, dancing, acting, games. These activities are the ones that children enjoy mostly. I think that schools dont need to eliminate recess because children can feel too much presure, they are not going to be interested in going to school.
     Schools are places where children learn important assigments like reading, math, and science, which are good for children's future, but learning only kind of things can turn boring for children. They also need freedom to chose what they want to do in order to relax from presure of assigments, homeworks. When i used to be a child all that i wanted was to play with my friends at school, after working hard on math or reading. That was the way how i could relax and forget about the presure of homeworks.    Children can lose interest in going to schoool if they dont enjoy the activities there, so i dont agree with schools that want to eliminate recesses. School should be places where kids are happy to be.
    In conclusion, schools dont need to turn their activities so boring for children. It is better that they look for ways to make happy children than to make children lose the interest in going to school, so they need to make children participate in activities that they can enjoy because children dont enjoy learning only math, science and reading at all.

blog 14 bottled water is a waste of money

      Many people consume products after seeing advertisements on the media. After a long time of advertisiment, they think that they already know the products and they start to trust them, but they dont research if these products are good for them how advertisements say. I think that buying bottled water is a waste of money and it is harmful to the environment.

      For many years we have bought bottled water because some companies made us believe that consuming bottle water is secure and tap water is dirty, they controled our choices through different kind of advertisements. I have many friend who buy twenty bottled water a week, and they dont know that they are buying the same water that flows from the tap. I always drunk tap water and i never had any healthy problem.

    the most serious problem is that consuming hundres of bottled water a month is harmful to the enviroment, because we are acumulating a lot of garbage and there is no place anymore to throw them out.

    According to the article:"Mom, Dad, Buy the broccoli" Junk food advertisements have gotten out of control. A group was formed to run a program and promote healthier foods, they want to limit these kind of advertisements in schools, and they want to cut back on advertising junk food. The obesity among the young is also mentioned and related with these junk food advertisements. I think that parents have the major responsibility to control what their children eat because children learn, imitate, and obey what their parents say.

    Since children were born, they learn everything they see. They taste everything that parents give them to eat, so it is very important that parents teach their children to eat healthy food since they are little babies. When i was a kid i didnt  like to eat vegetables or anything that was related with healthy food, but my parents used to be hard on me, they used to force me to eat fruit instead of candies or chocolates, they allow me to eat some candies but not frequetly, so i learned that fruits were good for my health.

Parents are most of the time with their children at home so they can show them how to eat healthy food like vegetables,fruits, or food low in fat. It would be good if children learn how to compare healthy food and junk food. I see many parents take their children to eat at McDonald's very often and they dont explain them that eating at McDonald's is not healthy. Parents have most of the responsability seeing what their children eat because their are adults and know what is best for their kids. Children imitate everything that adults do, they pay attention and learn fast all they see specially from their parents, so it would be good if parents eat healthy food during the lunch time, that way they would be attracting kids' attention .


Children who know how to choose healthy food tend to grow up healthy and with less probability to become obese or have diseases like diabetes. I think that these diseases are serious consequences of eating junk food. Nowadays i like to eat vegetables, fruits, instead of candies, chocolates or the kind of food that some companies like MacDonal's used to provide us, but this is only thanks to my parents who control my eating habits all the time.

In conclusion, Food industry have made unhealthy food for many years, and they always promoted their food on everywhere like tv,schools, streets,  so i dont think it is going to help if they reduce to advertise their Junk Food, but the only thing is going to help children learn to eat healthy is that their parents start to be concious in what they teach them.

     we all like to eat fresh and healthy food, without chemicals like pesticides, antibiotics, or additives, but we usually dont know where our food comes from. According to the article Family Farms, there is an alarming rate of small family farms that were forced out of business because it is difficult for them to compete with big corporations like farm factories. In the article Family Farm, one of the things that it is also mentioned is that Family Farms are very important because they provide fresh, nutritious, and high-quality foods. Unlike Farm factories, which pollute communities with chemical pesticides, noxious fumes and excess manure. I think that it is not fair that some companies make us believe that the food they provide us is good and healthy because they hurt the economy and hurt our health.

    Since big corporations like farm factories expanded their production the economy of the rural comunities have been affected because these big corporations just employ as few workers as posible and purchase suplies, equipments, materials from outside the local community, leaving rural areas with a high rate of unemployment and a low opportunity for economic growth.  Some corporations purchase equipment that replace workers, but these equipments dont do the same job as workers do, they just provide us food in bad conditions. For example these big companies process a lot of meat everyday, faster than a farm family can do, to make this possible people are exposed to work in fast lines in order to pack the meat, workers usually get injured thanks to the insane need for speed, instead of hire more people to help the community and provide food as it has to be.


Farm Factories just want to make money, and they dont care about the damage that the food they provide us can cause us.They add antibiotics to the animals' food to keep them alive, and these antibiotics can cause us many diseases. Nowadays we suffer from many sicknesses, and maybe this is thanks to the bad conditions factories process their meat because in this process the meat get also infected with manure.

The main points of The Meatrix.
In the movie"The Meatrix" Family farms were being destroyed by factories. Morpheous wants that  Leo chooses between living in the fantasy or discover the real world. Leo chose to discover the real world which was terrible because all that Leo believed is a good life, was a lie and Leo decided to scape from The Meatrix and avoid that The Meatrix destroys the family farms.

The Meatrix: Revolting
Morpheous, Leo and chickity expose the bad conditions of the dairy industry. Where cows are pumped with antibiotics and hormones that usually get them sick. So millions of people are waking up to where their food are coming from and are starting to buy healthy food with no antibiotics, no hormones, or additives.

Meatrix II 1/2.
the heroes show us how fast and insane the cows are processed to feed our nacion. The workers are injured because of the insane speed they have to pack the cows and the meat is processed under bad conditions because the manure is leaking from the intestines rigth into the meat.

We need to live the harsh reality of daily life to try to be save. Living in the real world is better than living a lie the whole life. In the movie "The Matrix" Neo was living an unreal life where the matrix controls his life and makes him believe things that are not truth. But Morpheus wanted to show him what real life is and he also think that Neo is the person who can save the humanity. I think that it is always better to know the truth than to live under a lie because the truth makes us happy, the truth sets us free and people who accept the truth lead solid families.

First, the truth make us always happy for example: In the movie "The Matrix" Neo has felt in his entire life that there was something wrong in his life which didnt allow him to find happiness, that is why Neo wanted to discover the truth and he followed things which could show him the real world. He found many things and althouth he realized that the truth was terrible and too hard to accept it. He prefered to go forward. I am agree with Neo because althougth the reality is terrible we have to face it. When I discovered my boyfriend had a child i got too disapointed and i felt so bad like if i waste too much time making a life with him. The relationship end because i was no happy anymore and i was not able to trust him again.

Second, the truth set us free althoug it is hard. Cypres from the movie"The Matrix" didnt like to be out of the Matrix because the reality was too hard  taking orders from Morpheus. Cypres couldnt do whatever he wants, he didnt feel free and he wanted to go back to the unreal world, where everything was easier but unreal, he prefered to ignore the reality. But I think we also need some control in life because sometimes we choose to do things that are not rigth. For example: In high school i used to be with my friends all the time, some of them were not good friends, they wanted me to drink every weekend so my parents used to control me and help me to understand what was wrong and rigth. they made me understarnd that i had to follow the rigth things to feel free in life, one of those are the truth.They used to tell me that i always have to follow the truth to find freedom.

I also learn in life that a person who lives near of the truth, leads good families, with solid values and less problems. When we are always hiding the truth we are increasing argues with people we love, we can hurt them and we can loose them. A lie always give us more problems, it is one of the reasons that many relationships have end up in divorce. I have too many friends who divorce after they find out that their partners were lying or keeping too many secrets.

In conclusion, I think that it is always important to follow the truth. Although it is hard and difficult to accept it, we have to face the truth and keep us far from problems that a lie give us. To keep a good relationship with ourselves, we need to look for happiness, freedom and a solid family. So one of the important things that give us all this, is the truth.

According to the article "The Danger of Reality TV”.  by Timothy Sexton. Many young people love to watch TV, especially reality shows which send them bad messages and mold their minds.  Sometimes there is nothing most important for these young people than TV shows; young people don’t pay attention to anybody while they are watching TV. I think these TV shows make young people spend too much time watching TV more than focusing on education, spending time with their family or deal with a job according to a major.

     

      Young people don’t focus on education when they earn a lot of money. One of the bad messages TV shows send is that "Education is not necessary to fulfill the American dream". These messages make young people go to these shows and make a lot of money which makes them think that they don’t need to focus on education because tv shows make them think money is all they need in life but i think that these wrong mesages destroy young people's life because if they dont go to school, they are not going to be successful. For example: my cousin loves soccer, he watch TV shows about soccer all the time and he wants to be all the time playing soccer which made him make a lot of money and make him leave school and i think that by the time his ability ends he will not be able to do another kind of thing because he didnt get an education, he just spent a lot of time playing, that is why i thing that adults shouldn't allow young people spend too much time playing or watching TV shows

      On the other hand adults should encourage young people to pay more attention to finish school by not allowing them doing something that is not going to be for ever like making money in an easy way. For example if young people get a job on tv and they earn a lot of money. It is possible they dont want to go to school but Parents shouldnt allow this. Sometimes it is neccesary to force them to finish  college  because young people need to  learn how to face the difficulties without a college degree.

      Besides, it is most important to spend time having dinner with family than to spend time watching TV  shows that make young people to follow a wrong way. Parents should teach their children to spend time together as a family but it need to be  taught since children are too little because it is when they get things faster and parents need to remind them all the time that it is important to spend time together. For example: while the family is having dinner they can talk about how was their day.

       In conclusion, adults shouldn't allow young people to watch tv shows that send them bad messages or mold their minds, young people are easy to manipulate but it is better to manipulate them by going to school and graduating from college because if these young people pay more attention to watch tv or things that are not going to help them in the future they are not going to be succesful in life. There are too many difficulties if people dont finish college, difficulties like finding a job.

#6 The Truman show

    Life is the most wonderful thing in the world. Some people manipulate other's life which is not fear for anybody because everybody have the freedom to decide how to live, nobody have the right to decide for us. In the movie "The truman show" Cristoff created what he considered a "Perfect World" for Truman. Cristoff filmed Truman's every move for a tv show for almost all Truman's life since he was born. Truman was kept prisoner by Cristoff. I think that nobody has the right to decide how we have to live.

    Truman lived his life full of lies, everyday something new created to make him act for a tv show, live as a prisoner it is something that nobody want. When i lived with my parents, they used to take care of me, they decided things for me but that was because i was not able to know what was good for me. For example: I was not able to decide good things for me even at my age eighteen because i didnt know too much about life that was why my parents helped me but by the time i wanted to get a career, get married, or have kids my parents respected my decisions.

    However,Cristoff chose a wife for Truman, Cristoff made him to get married, get a house, he also wanted him to have kids. All this was sick because i think that Truman had the right to decide what kind of life to follow, he was not kid anymore. I dont imagine to have a life where everything is manipulated for another person.

    In my life, i decide whatever i want in life. For example: If i want to go to another country i just go, if i want to leave my job and get another one i do it because i have the freedom to make my own decisions i am not a kid anymore.

    In conclusion, nobody have the right to manipulate our life when we are able to make our own decisions. In life we have the freedom to choose the kind of life to follow even if we were wrong as when we are adults, we are still learning from our mistakes.

#5 I know the truth

In this world there are many ways to make people believe in unreal things. According to "I know the truth, so don't bother me with facts." many of us are easy to be deceived by rumors and lies, and when we heard something that contradict our belief, we reject the new information because we dont like to be told we are wrong.After some studies people had strong beliefs about there is a mosque at ground cero, which is not real because that was just a rumor that usually it is shown on tv or newspapers. I think that people are easy to be deceived by rumors and lies but i also think that they wouldnt change their belief because people are too proud and they love to be always right.

The article describe that even people do take time to learn facts, they dont change their beliefs and these beliefs become even strongly. I agree with this part of the article. When i lived with my father, he used to have strong beliefs about how good was the president of Peru and when someone tried to show him some bad informations about the president, my father didnt like to heard anything, and his beliefs become even more strongly, nobody couldnt change their beliefs.

However, there is something important that the article doesnt mention. It mentions about it is easy to deceive people with rumors and lies but i also thing that some people are too proud and stubborn. they love to be right all the time. that is why they dont accept to change their beliefs. For example, once my bestfriend heard that i said bad things about her and when i wanted to explain her that those were lies she didnt want to listen to me, she was too proud and stubborn.

In conclusion, I think that some  people love to be always right, they dont change their beliefs even thougth  they were wrong because they are too proud and stubborn. Sometimes this is a big problem because if they were wrong and people who love them are right, they would be always arguing.

Claim:
People should be always open to new things in order to make their ideas more clearly.

Reasons:
-Some people who are not open mind think that they are always right even thougth they are wrong so they can make some mistakes when they have to make a decision.
-when they make bad decisions these can affect to their family or people they love.
-Besides they can lose people they love because it is not being always arguing with people we love.

What difficulty did you have developing a thesis?
It is not so easy to develop an essay and the thesis is just a small part but the most important part in a essay because everything that we are going to write an essay depend on the thesis.

i think i need to work more on summaries and write with my own words about this summary.

#3 "The allegory of the cave summary"

According to "The allegory of the cave" Socrates wants to help Glaucon by showing him a picture to understand a philosophical idea. In this picture humans beings live in an underground den since their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained like prisoners. All they can see are shadows and some lights because of the fire in the den.  Socrates wanted to show Glaucon that all human beings live like these prisoners, and human beings only see their shadows or others' shadows. Socrates said to him: If one prisoner is liberated, he will suffer sharp pains, he will wanted to come back to the den but he will accept the reality and accustome to the new world. He also will pity the other prisoners.
In other words Socrates wanted Glaucon to understand that the idea of good appears last of all, and that is possible only after people's effort.
My world compared with Socrates' opinion is similar because i feel like a prisoner when i realize that i have not achieved all my dreams.

According to the article"I know the truth, So don't bother me with facts" Humans are easily deceived by rumors, because they believe that there is a planned mosque at ground cero which is not real. In a study, 750 people believed at least one of the rumors about the proposed Islamic cultural center. So there are two conclusions: 1) it is easy to manipulate people's believe with insinuating pictures or quotes: 2) no many people are willing to reverse their opinion.
Even when  people take time to learn the facts and change their opinions, the effort often dont work because people dont like being told they are wrong so it could be simple ego. But some investigators are working to know how people can be so strong in their believes.

  In the passage the writer talks about how advertisements are everywhere people are.They are advertisements on the tv, radio, buses, trains, stadiums,etc. There is not place where i can not find an ad.
  Nowadays, advertisements are a way, a good way to call people's attention but there in no place where my eyes can rest or my mind can have only one thing .For example when i want to listen to music i turn my radio on and i can listen to music for five minutos but i also have to listen commercials for another five minutes, sometimes that is boring but it is how businesses work.
   There is a similar situation when i want to see a show on the tv. I can enjoy the tv show for ten minutos but i also have to try enjoying commercial advertisements which are long. Some ads call my attention specially whose that are about animals adoption, i can not avoid feeling sad because animals have to be in cages all the time. This advertisement is to ask for people help where people can donate some money to help animals.
  Therefore,advertisement are everywhere including in my favorite place which is the beach where i used to go to relax, to look for a silent moment, now that is no possible anymore because it has advertisements everywhere that call my attention. So there is nowhere to run.
  In conclusion, advertisements are everywhere, we can not run away from them. It is part of business growth so i think it is neccesary. If i would be in business i put advertisements in everywhere.
